Serious Moonlight…

On seeing the world after cataract surgery:

The stars — they are in bold font tonight!
They are so sharp and singular, they each prick the soul like a needle. They would be painful to look at if they were not so incredibly awe-inspiring.
So tiny. So bright!
Pick a bright one and stare at it.
Tell me if you don’t actually feel it — there — down deep in the very center of your being.

In the single, singular core of all being.

And just over the horizon — a violet moon shines down sublimely — so large, so bright!

Weird — it’s violet! Blue-violet! What a strange color. What a strange moon!
It’s so bright and crystal-clear! And it has a face! It’s smiling down on the land.
I’ve never seen it like this. So primordial!
You can imagine a distant pterodactyl flying over its face.

And over the southern horizon — there’s Jupiter, staring down with an unblinking, knowing eye, with Saturn in tow behind it.

Free-agent (aka: retired). I've turned back into a teenager! (Except without all the angst… better hardware, too).
